Note from @adfusaro about the end of the show: "shortly after WCIBY started, the sound started to fade...mic first completely, then instruments...when mic fully pulled, R made his way to front stage and began spinning and yelling "run around in circles...". R knew-said at encore start,"we need to play these fast-only have 20 min" "

Thanks to Paul K. and Olivier at It's A Perfect Day for the setlist updates, and to everyone else who posted photos & videos.

Tonight's Doctor Who sticker on Simon's bass: a repeat of A Good Man Goes To War. Thanks Trev!

BottleRock rehearsal (05/29/14)

Songs played: Before they were let in - Lullaby, Just Like Heaven, Catch, Shake Dog Shake. After they went in - Doing the Unstuck, Freakshow, Sinking, The Baby Screams, Before Three, Close to Me, Fascination Street, A Forest.

Seems like they got to watch about 45 minutes, then met the band, took photos with them, and got autographs. Very nice!

THANK YOU! to Leslie, Kariana, and Justin for the updates & photos tonight! Really didn't think we'd get any.

And THANK YOU to Jill for sending her report and photos, too!

Photos from Kariana & Leslie. Thank you!

From jmoranabel on Instagram: "That time I saw The Cure with 12 other people. Holy shit. Thank you live105" 2 more shots here & here.

Other photos - Live 105 / Jill / j9akaneerer / Kariana's autographed Three Imaginary Boys /

Thanks to Leslie and her niece Kariana, we have reports!

8:55 PM - "I just spoke with them and they are out. They met the band and had pictures taken. They said they will post more pics from their other camera and that they will post the details on the blog."

8:12 PM - "They are playing A Forest"

8:10 PM - "They are inside now for rehersal"

7:22 PM (Pacific) - "They are there now! Waiting outside and you can hear them playing "Lullaby" inside the venue."

A long shot, but if any of you reading this are attending tonight's rehearsal, please let us know your thoughts when you get out.

While it's doubtful they'll report anything, you can listen to Live 105 here

And again, please don't post the location of the event. Thanks, and have a great time if you're going!

Getting ready for BottleRock

From BottleRock on Facebook: "Let there be light! Test run for The Cure lighting last night. Can you believe that we get to see them perform a 2 1/2 set tomorrow night?! EPIC."

From Nancy/Nanners: "Dressing Up for BottleRock Napa! A hand painted pic of Robert on my thumbnail."

Robert interviewed on a carousel in 1985

From Dangerous Minds:

The Cure’s Robert Smith interviewed on a playground carousel, 1985

This interview should be a delight to any Cure fans out there, as Master Robert is in awfully likable form, as the rest of the playground keeps sliding past him in the back. For the interview is being conducted on one of those carousels you surely played on when you were a child. As it happens, the origin story of The Cure actually involves a playground, so it all works out.

The questioner (in my head he is “the poor man’s Jools Holland”) is terribly interested in how they came up with the CRRRRAZY ideas for their videos for “Let’s Go to Bed” and “In Between Days” and “The Love Cats” (the first two directed by The Cure’s longtime collaborator Tim Pope, while “The Love Cats,” apparently, was not). Easily the best moment comes at around 0:20, when Smith shouts at a bunch of rambunctious offscreen children to “SHUT UP!” (Thanks @godwinafaith)

Cure Press Cuttings on Facebook

I don't usually promote things on "Spacebook" (I hate the place), but will for this. It's a page full of Cure press cuttings. Very nice!

Roger's tambourine from TCT auction stolen?

From Francesca: "The person who won Roger’s signed tambourine from the TCT charity auction never received it. What we know for sure is that someone else "signed" for the parcel… if this can be considered a signature…. bah! The package never reached its final destination.
She’s really heartbroken because she knows that the chances to get the tambourine back are less than 0, but she asked help to spread what happened, so that if the tambourine surfaces somewhere all Cure fans will know it’s 100% stolen!"

If anyone offers to sell this to you, or you have more info on its whereabouts, please let me know. Thanks! And thanks to JC for the photo.

BottleRock promo codes end Wednesday night

If you are going to BottleRock and still haven't bought your passes, do it before Wednesday at midnight. At that time, all of the promo discount codes will expire, and all passes will be full price.

Update (05/29/14): Or maybe not. I didn't try all codes, but DAYOFF and ROCKNAPA still work.

Help from BottleRock?

If you're going to BottleRock and wouldn't mind helping me with the live setlist reports (via Twitter, email, WhatsApp, Facebook, etc.), please let me know. Thanks!

Paul K. will be texting and Olivier will be providing his live updates if possible, but we can always use some backup, in case batteries die or connections fail. If you can help out, please do.

Attend The Cure's BottleRock rehearsal

The contest is now closed. Winners are being notified. As a courtesy to the band, please don't post the location of this event. Thanks!

On May 29th, at an undisclosed location somewhere in California, The Cure will be doing a rehearsal for their BottleRock show. Enter the Live 105 contest and you could be 1 of 7 lucky fans to win a pair of passes to attend the rehearsal, along with a pair of 3 day passes to BottleRock.

Unfortunately, this contest is only open to residents of the Greater SF Bay area. One entry per person. One e-mail address per person. Contest runs from 5/23/14 at 3pm - 5/26/14 at 11:59pm PT. Winners will be randomly drawn on 5/27/14.

Note: It needs to be stressed that this is NOT going to be a "secret show". Meaning not an actual full Cure concert. Think of it as more of soundcheck/rehearsal type of show. There was a bit of a misunderstanding, and Live105 messed up the initial announcement, which lead to the misunderstanding, and hope, of an actual "secret Cure show". Still, this will be very cool to attend. Good luck to everyone who can enter!

'Deep Green Sea' (Multicam) at RAH

From Francois: Multicam version of The Cure - From the Edge of the Deep Green Sea at Royal Albert Hall (March 28th & 29th)

Ticketmaster cleared in Cure ticket case

From The 405 & Musicweek:

"Ticketmaster have been cleared of charges over a complaint received regarding the availability of tickets for a Cure concert. It all happened a couple of months ago when fans trying to buy tickets for a concert at the Royal Albert Hall on March 28th found there were none available; the site directed them towards more expensive tickets from an online ticket marketplace owned by Ticketmaster itself.

A formal complaint was then made to the Advertising Standards Authority (ASA), claiming that the offers made by Ticketmaster were misleading. The company said it was allocated only a small portion of the total amount of tickets, and that these tickets had been available to purchase from the website and call centre from January 31st, 9:30 am. Ticketmaster added that over three-quarters of the tickets had already been sold 15 minutes after their release, with the remaining ones either being sold by the call centre or placed in the customers' online shopping baskets.

Given this, ASA declared itself "satisfied that the evidence supplied indicated that tickets for the concert had been available through Ticketmaster from 9:30 am on 31 January and had been sold by that company directly to individual customers."
